One of the best parts of the holiday season is driving around and looking at Christmas Lights. Fortunately, Kansas City has tons of spectacular Christmas light displays to pick from. Listed below are six Christmas light displays you won’t want to miss out on.
The Mayor’s Christmas Tree at Crown Center is a 100-foot tree with over 7,000 white bulbs. And the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund raises money to provide assistance to underprivileged families across the Kansas City area.
The tree is lit the day after Thanksgiving in a special ceremony that includes music and fireworks. And of course, Kansas City Mayor Sly James will make an appearance to flip on the lights.

This winter you may go to the Legends to finish up your holiday shopping but I am guessing you will stay so you can enjoy the holiday lights. The large shopping center has thousands of sparkling lights and even features a 45-foot Christmas tree.
Located in Overland Park, the Ultimate Holiday Tree is a dazzling Christmas display lit by thousands of LED bulbs. You can enjoy a light show complete with music, animation, and special effects.
It is hosted every year at the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. The show is so spectacular it was even featured on the HGTV show “All Out Christmas.”
Lee’s Summit Magic Tree is not your average Christmas tree. It has over 12,000 LED bulbs that are lit up with all the different colors of the rainbow.
Guests are invited to take family photos in front of the tree. And donations will be accepted for Lee’s Summit Social Services, an organization that provides relief to families in need.
Located in Liberty, visitors can view the lights show from the warmth of their cars. You will simply pull into the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church parking lot and attendants will direct you on where to park. When the show starts, you simply tune your radio to hear a live performance of your favorite Christmas songs and see a dazzling 15-minute lights display.
Most Kansas Citians are probably already familiar with the Plaza Lights, a lighting display that spans 15 blocks of the Country Club Plaza. The same probably holds true for the Plaza Lighting Ceremony on Thanksgiving.
But if you want to see the Plaza Lights like never before, you should consider the Country Club Plaza Flights. This professional tour allows guests to enjoy the incredible views of the Kansas City Plaza lights. And as an added bonus, the staff even provides hot chocolate for guests to enjoy during their flight.
