Whether you’re here for business, pleasure or family fun, visitors to Overland Park find an inviting and sophisticated community featuring some of the Kansas City area’s finest shopping, dining and entertainment experiences. A variety of lodging accommodations provide easy access to some of Overland Park’s unique attractions, including over 250 restaurants, great shopping, family-friendly activities, theatres, unique art, nearly 80 public parks, miles of hike/bike trails and three championship golf courses. Plus, Overland Park is just minutes from all the Kansas City metro offer.

The 300-acre Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, open year-round, offers a natural setting with walking trails, waterfalls, colorful flowers, permanent sculpture exhibit and a variety of gardens, including a children’s discovery garden, Monet garden and a legacy garden. 

At the 12-acre Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, visitors enjoy feeding farm animals, milking a cow, taking a hayride on a horse-drawn wagon and fishing in the pond, as well as, visiting an Indian Encampment, Ben’s Bank and a one-room schoolhouse and much more.

Overland Park has two enclosed shopping malls and hundreds of specialty shops. Oak Park Mall, the region’s largest mall, offers Nordstrom, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Macy’s, Barnes & Noble and American Girl Doll Store (opening fall 2010). Sears and Macy’s are located at Metcalf South Mall. At Corbin Park, you’ll find Von Maur and JCPenny. Hawthorne Plaza includes a variety of exclusive specialty stores and boutiques. Historic Downtown Overland Park offers quaint eateries, antiques, art galleries and retail shops.

The city offers visitors a variety of ways to enjoy the Arts. The award-winning New Theatre Restaurant brings Broadway-style musicals and plays with New York and Hollywood performers to Overland Park. In November 2002, the Overland Park Convention Centeropened with 237,000 square-feet of space. The Center features over 60 pieces of juried original artwork from local and regional artists, which is open for public viewing. Tomahawk Creek Community Center features Art at the Center that offers juried, invitational, student and subject-specific shows year-round. The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, the region’s largest contemporary art museum, is located on the campus of Johnson County Community College, which also features over 400 additional works of art across the campus.
